I think ALO said that the team handled on the information they had at the time, but they didn't look at what other teams did. They obviously had different information.

Max came in 1 lap after ALO.

I've always said it's best to stick with the devil you know (in Charlie's case Bino) and as you say Fred is even worse, the Ferrari top dogs at Maranello must be covering their eyes every time.

Sure . And ALO had to stay out for one more lap and it would be very clear that the track was too wet for mediums .

I say ALO's pitstop was really bad timing .So actually the Aston pitstop strategy failed ...

I would go further and say their strat was useless when it had to matter. ALO could have stayed with Max as I suggested before but then RB wouldn't have fallen into that trap in the first place with people like Hannah advising what was best and Max being the rain master, as HeelToeShift said in #272

Good race, nice bonus for it being Monaco! Wonder why Alonso went out on the mediums there, luckily he got away with it but that could have ended terribly.

Also not sure if anyone saw this, F4 almost had a Hubert repeat yesterday. They need to setup that corner so cars stop bouncing back into the racing line. We all love Spa but that corner is just far too dangerous.

Wolff manager owns a third of Merc F1 with Daimler and Eneos a third each with the remaining so he has a lot of power there and Ferrari managers are in reality lackeys probably being told how to run the team by others.

Have got to post about this again that AM put the Meds on ALO's car, Horner says they were let off the hook by this happening and AM simply cracked under pressure with such an easy decision to make by not putting Fernie on Inters. Fernie now has no chance of scoring a win in any of the remaining races bar unreliability issues for RB, and his own car could suffer that.

As soon as I saw Aston Martin mounting no inters on Alonso's car I said aloud: "Nooooo!". But, true, it was a gamble. Imagine that it had only been a brief rain shower and subsequently the racing line drying up: then Aston Martin could have proved all others wrong - Alonso is also very good in the rain. But during this race the skies looked menacing enough to opt for inters.

Remember Lando Norris during the 2021 Russian GP (Sochi): the victory slipped out of his hands in the final laps because of refraining to fit inters. Late rain. Mercedes decided to pit Hamilton for inters. Norris stayed out on slicks, thinking that he could finish the 4 final laps with those. Rain intensified: Norris was toast and Hamilton won the race.

There is a saying that when it rains it usually pours and that is more than often true for when it starts spitting with rain at GP's also with those mountains encircling Monaco with the dark clouds it was coming, ALO should have put his foot down there with gut feeling of heavy rain.

I think Max has a better strategic mind than Lando.
At least in Sochi in 2021; Lando starts on pole and finishes 7th, Max starts at the rear of the field (20th) and finishes 2nd

I'm sure it did. That, together with the faulty weather radar, made for the wrong call. But then again, unless you have a hotline to the Gods, you never know for sure how long and how much these rain showers are. It could have worked the other way around as well.
