Well done to Sauber! Bortoletto comes good, as well as Lawson.

And for the umpteenth time the car position after the first corner decides the podium at the end.

not yet. 10 points needed from somewhere.
Looks like it's over. Verstappen's exit clause will be activated after 30 June 2025. It turns out that top 2 had to be feasible by 30 June 2025. That ain't the case. So Verstappen has become a 'free agent'. He can join Mercedes in 2026, no RBR strings attached. The Austrian GP was a crucial race. Verstappen's race engineer GP Lambiase was exceptionally unavailable "for personal reasons".

F1 journalist Julianne Cerasoli knew more. If the Dutch F1 journalists at De Telegraaf confirm, then it's gonna happen. I expect Verstappen to sign this July. Wolff was waiting for the 30 June key date and it's clear that he wants the Russell situation to be clear too asap (cannot keep Russell hanging on a string till after the summer break). It's decision time. Exit Russell + Enter Verstappen. Russell could have a chat with Horner and Marko about the soon-to-be vacated 2026 Red Bull Racing seat.

ok well then what is he waiting for! Toto will be super happy with Kimi helping seal the deal!

so Max - Kimi (if he so chooses) at Merc

the question is where will Russell drive - Red Bull - Ford is wide open for him.

will Horner still be in charge next year - most likely. i'm sure they don't want to have a new engine supplier and no team principal.

lastly i'm not sure how the FIA allows one team to have 4 cars but hey nobody in the paddock has complained so who are we to say.

Max and Kimi pairing will be great. Max to win 3 to 4 more WDCs there and then pass the torch to Kimi as Kimi learns from the best.

I see the RB ans RBR thing differently - when F1 wasnt doing well and needed teams to enter, I didnt see Caddy helping them out by jumping into the mix - though, of course, they want in now that they fee F1 thriving. Alas, it was RB who said, 'hey we can buy in with another team' and pony up to help. The two teams are not much different than MB/Williams, Ferrari/Haas. If anything, I would say MB has too many cars on the grid sharing their engine which can only lead to certain bias' when voting on certain issues.

maybe toto ordered the strike. it happened with Bottas too, i think Bottas took out Max in 2021, can't remember.

if you watch the replay, Toto was NOT upset. normally he bangs the table with his fists, or smashes his Bose headphones.

But what is more interesting is that some of my questions I asked before the race have been answered.
  • Mercedes still sucks at hot tracks
  • Merc customers are still cooking their power units
  • It was Sauber's turn to show a decent turn of speed, whereas Haas had to work for their solitary point
  • AMR look promising in qualifying trim but their race pace is lacking
after an entire year of unluck, Lawson got away from the death trap. he was literally millimeters from getting taken out.

Looks like it's curtains for Yuki's career now, he's too small to handle the car and he's had enough time as Hadjar is keen to step in (if he has to he says) after the summer break and Lindstrom head for the vacant carbon seat.
You know what, I don't want to hear GP's voice again. That self satisfying smirky tone of his does more harm than good and he should FO and join Vettel at his bee farm
Lawson outdrove Hadjar this weekend. Maybe he should take Yuki’s seat using this logic… oh wait.

That was an entertaining race. So many races within the race to watch and the track is always excellent. Great that it has been renewed into the 2040s.

Oscar really had some bad luck this weekend what with the Alpine ending his qualifying and the Alpine running him off the track. What has Alpine got against the guy. I wonder. Some awesome action with the McLarens for the first stint.

Good result for Fernando even though he spent pretty much the entire race glued to the back of Lawson. Two stop strategy was a winner for them both.

The Lewis v Ferrari dynamic is plumbing new depths. They need to sort this out.

Max had even worse luck but his body language was not usual Max. That says a lot.

The Merc does not like the heat. Silverstone will be much more friendly.

What a nightmare race for RB at their home track. Wow.

I feel bad for all the Max fans who showed up only to see him get dive bombed by Kimi in the third turn.

Ant boy could have crashed into another car but as usual MAX seems to be in everyones sight for an easy target. i wouldn't have been so sympathetic as MAX was to the ant and would probably have made him cry, oh shame on me

Agree it's not the well known factor and easily forgotten by fans when it comes to voting. MB is far too powerful and is the bully of F1.

It's not as clear cut as it sounds and ppl are only guessing with what's in the contracts, the Dutch press journous know nothing and are only speculating.
