Yes, that's the guy, Rick. But he's not the main villain of this movie.

It was adapted from the same book as the more recent movie "Red Dragon," which you may have seen.

I have probably seen it about 150 times. Whenever it's on I have to watch. There is a lot of humanity, sociology, and philosophy that Stephen King worked into the writing of the book. They did a good job of writing the screenplay off of the book.

Yeah, neither does mine, but I do so sometimes I watch those kinds of movies. I like creepy movies.

This was the one that started it....an excellent movie. Red Dragon or Manhunter which ever title you prefer.

This was the one that started it....an excellent movie. Red Dragon or Manhunter which ever title you prefer.

Manhunter is way better imo. I like the actors better and I like Michael Mann's style. To each their own, though.

You are correct and I was actually referencing the fact that Manhunter was also released under the title Red Dragon before the Ralph Fines version.

That was a good one. His movie, "Homefront," with James Franco is a solid watch too. Franco's villain has a Negan-like feel.

I saw it in the theater when it first came out and it was called Manhunter.

When Manhunter was in production, de Laurentiis had recently produced a crime thriller called Year of the Dragon, directed by The Deer Hunter helmer Michael Cimino. Year of the Dragon was a box office bomb and received mixed reviews, but like many movies, has gained fans over the years.

Unfortunately, in logic sure to make most fans scratch their heads, de Laurentiis became worried that Red Dragon's use of the word dragon might make audiences associate it with Year of the Dragon and not go see it. According to star William Petersen, de Laurentiis also worried that consumers might think Red Dragon was a martial arts movie in the style of Bruce Lee. So as usual, the producer won out and Red Dragon was re-titled Manhunter. That's despite director Michael Mann hating the new title, as well as Hannibal Lecter actor Brian Cox. To make matters worse, Manhunter bombed at the box office anyway.

Watched "memory" on Amazon recently. Good watch, also caught "no time to die". Gotta say I enjoyed that Bond movie, it was excellent.
