If the drivers are up to date, you've done a hard reboot, and nothing is working when plugged in, I'm not sure what's happening. Especially if other USB devices are working. Like, if you plug your phone in, or keyboard or something else - it recognizes it right?

Now that I think of it, it didn't recognize my phone the other day. And I just tried to transfer out my files I need on a USB stick and it didn't work. The only thing that worked was putting it on an sd card.
I just connected the new mouse to an old little laptop I had and it works.
But I can't use that old computer because it doesn't have Word.

Doesn't sound good then. Probably something wrong with your USB ports if it isn't recognizing anything. But you know it isn't a mouse issue now, which is a plus, since you don't have to waste time on that...can you transfer the file via internet to another computer that does have word? Even go to the library or something if its urgent.

Just back it up on the SD card and go over to Joekerr 's house to finish. He's exurban Toronto, you're Vancouver... I mean how far can it really be - it is just Canada.

Anyway, did you try enabling the trackpad? Maybe Fn+9 or something. That seems to be ASUS command. Since it is "onboard" it may bypass the faulty I/O bus (of course, it may not).
