For the guys who have the $ and want it, who cares? Definitely not my taste - all of these extra carbon bits and the ceramic brakes - but good to have options for those who like them.

I wonder if it is BMW's answer to the European pedestrian protection regulations and it is the just best they can do? I don't know. I understand that we Americans are supposed to "get" the sophisticated European design language, but Jesus H.

Being an old dude, I remember when the E30 M3 debuted, it was about $6K more than a 325i. And back then hardly anyone wanted to pay the premium for a 4-cylinder over the M20.

I would like this exact spec as an M3 but also agree those side skirts are terrible.

The Cadillac is indeed nothing short of spectacular. Starting at under 60k, I feel it is in its own league at that number. It has been so much fun to drive, especially the last 200 miles. The manual gearbox is so solid. Very rewarding to operate.

My M4 is ordered exactly as I want. Obviously, it is a 2 door automatic versus a 4 door manual, and most probably would not cross shop these two. But the M3, obviously w/ the CT4-V Blackwing.

I have test driven a M4 Competition on 3 different occasions, the last time being 30+ minutes alone. The car is such a beast, to think the xDrive is even more, hard to imagine. Here would be the things I like better about each, obviously knowing the BMW less than the Cadillac:

Advantage Cadillac
- Steering wheel, the thickness is perfect and it looks way better for me.
- Driver gauge cluster. I like the display options much more than the BMW. You can also dim the panel at night and it shuts off every light in the car except a small center gauge with gear, RPM, and MPH. Way cool.
- Audio system, no doubt about this one
- Exhaust and motor sound - also no doubt. The X4 Comps I tested were nauseating with the amplified sound. I would never use it. I hope it is not automatically enhanced with sportier modes in the M4. I guess using the M1/M2 buttons, I can keep it off. [...]
How was the thigh bolstering between the two seats, similar?

That's a nice CT4 Blackwing. I don't see very many out and about. I see more of the bigger brother (CT5 Blackwing).

In regards to that M4 with the carbon bits and ceramic brakes, I don't see the xDrive badge, so I'm assuming it's missing the AWD feature... $120k is a lot. It's too close to the M4 CS price. I paid less for my new 1LZ C8 Z06. If someone can get a new M4 comp with xDrive for around $90k, I think that would be a better buy.

Love the blackwing. I feel they will be classics one day.

Current M3/4 will likely not.

How does the 4 BW sound compared to the 5 BW? I've only watched videos of the reviews. The supercharged LT4 sounds incredible. The car will be my DD. Does the 4 give up much usable everyday performance compared to the 5?
Thanks,

You're not going to get V8 sounds from a turbo V6.

I don't think you're going to notice the nearly 200hp less of the 4 day to day, most people are driving where there's too much traffic for that.
