Interesting, I had toyed with going this direction but have some other things I wanted prior to adding this to my house. I love my older gas stove that has a power burner and a tiny simmer burner plus integral pancake skillet or bacon cooker. Sadly it does not match the decor.

If you can stick with gas somehow, do it. Induction is more all or nothing IMO. You can heat it up quickly, but just doesn’t seem as balanced as gas.

I just wonder why they care about banning gas stoves and grills to force people to switch to electric, without doing anything to the electrical infrastructure?

PG&E in CA year after year manages to burn down millions of acres endangering people. Texas was useless the second it got a little cold over there; interesting to note how stereotypically two political extremes of states run into the same problem of lacking infrastructure.

Well, one issue you're probably not aware of is that your two examples are both privately held utilities.

Also neither ERCOT or PG&E would be for banning gas seeing as how it's part of their revenue stream.

I know AUstralia has been worried about gas stove tops for a while in regards to the CO2 being burned off indoors, particularly for kids. They have not banned it yet but have sent out advisories that it appears to damage one's health.

I currently use a quartz stovetop because gas is not available in my area. But I had gas stoves, gas fireplaces and water heaters for years. I like gas for cooking and I do miss my AGA,

BTW, what about restaurants??? Don't they all use gas stoves?

Anyway, interesting debate.

Yeah, I get it 100%. Gas ranges aren’t vented appliances. It’s assumed that range hoods will be used in conjunction with the range.

There is no agreed Co2 standard in place for indoor air. Homes without gas ranges can average 0.5 – 5ppm readings even with vented appliances (HWT, Furnace, Fireplace etc)

At 9ppm, ASHRAE / WHO and others agencies agree that these levels are “safe” up to 8 hours of exposure
35ppm, physical symptoms will occur at 6-8 hours
200ppm, physical symptoms will occur at 2-3 hours
400+ppm, physical symptoms in 45 mins. Unconscious in 2 hours. Fatal in 2-3 hours.

A properly “tuned” gas range can emit 5-15ppm Co2 while a poorly adjusted range can be 30ppm or higher. A correctly sized range hood will take care of the emissions.

Soo, your source?

Also yes, restaurants have these things called ventilation systems that are quite powerful, also not a lot of children working in them.

when I lived in the rat hole in south Houston I had a natural gas leak coming out of my oven for four years. The rent was cheap so I didn't complain and I was fine.

Yep. If you are required to retire from being a Commercial Airline pilot at 65 and Air Traffic Controllers are required to retire at 56 because of declining faculties, why in the hell are we letting these incredibly old, wealthy, and completely out of touch geezers still be in office?

No, I am. I would expect the government to act as a method of checks and balances to corporations to protect its citizens, not the other way around.
