But keep BMWs from new long enough and depreciation doesn't matter.

And after that become fairly maintenance heavy. Why so many opt for expensive warranties and maintenance plans. The number of expensive things that can go wrong on MB, BMW or Audi is daunting.

I wonder if anyone has compared EV repair histories, after warranty, to ICE vehicles?

Consumer reports says a $4600 savings against average ICE vehicles over lifetime, and you can be sure that a BMW or MB is much more.

I would be very curious as to the percentage of bad batteries that have to be replaced versus the percentage of blown engines over the same time period and mileage.

Just to reiterate, the Lucid Air would still be in my garage if it wasn't for the charging network and my lack of space in my garage, in my main house or my lake house.

I would buy another in a second, same Grand Touring level, same color combo, same options if I had the garage space, but I might look at slightly used. Don't get me wrong, I am not an EV fanboy or detractor overall. They have their place. Driving the Air was like being in a Disney ride and it never failed to produce a smile. They have a 100,000 mile battery warranty, so I didn't see that as being too different than an ICE equivalent.

Do yourself a favor and test drive one just for the experience. I have rented a few Teslas and driven friends, the Air is different. The guy who did the tint and PPF on my Air drove a Plaid and got the opportunity to drive my Air a bit. Let's just say his Tesla got totaled a couple months later and he now drives an Air he got used.

Not sure what I make of looking at their stock quotes as it has been this way for over a year. The Company is basically Saudi owned and I doubt it is going anywhere.

Yeah, a Saudi money pit. But, that might explain why their prices are not higher. Profitability is not really an issue, apparently. The Saudi's are subsidizing your purchase too.

Not the sort of stock that I buy.

There's a local-to-me Lucid Air Pure, in my preferred color, I could grab for $66,109, tax included w/a free ($650 value) Lucid L2 charger. IMO, a 420-mile range in good weather is livable along with a 17-minute 200-mile range recovery. It's hard not to pull the trigger on such a vehicle.

For me the charger would be plug and play.

I would not buy the stock, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy the car again if it fit my use case.

I would not make the decision to buy the vehicle or brand based on their Stock performance. Look no further than Ford. They continually are the #1 American selling Car Brand. And their Stock has been basement bargain levels for a while now.
Meanwhile, Lucid as a brand, has stellar Reviews from both Owners and Editors. I've been in 9ne and they make Tesla look like Go-Carts inside and out.

Based on pics and specs, at the price point, if one wants a just RWD EV sedan with great range from a 100% battery charge the Air Pure is damned tough to beat. I'm not keen on the fabric dash inlay, but the screen integration is spot on for my tastes; no IMAX tablet stuck in the middle of the dashboard. I'd like to see one in person.

My approach here is the E90 really needs to be replaced and the Air is only $12K more now in 2025 than I paid for the E90 in 2006. My issue is what car besides the E90 to give up... I'd need to get rid of two to pick up one.
I see your conundrum. 😉

Which two are you referring to?

That's the issue. I like all the cars I have. It's why I've kept them so long. I have a 28 year old Z3 (original owner) and a 26 year old Honda motorcycle (also original owner). They are like pets to me now. Lol.

Nah, it’s just a given.

I am close to being the “Yeah, but if you charge exclusively at public charging, drive cross-country weekly and live where the temperature is 110 degrees for six months and -10 for the other six, it is a horrible choice! Fuggitabout using it at a road course” person.

That’s why I have a G26, not an i4. But if I were a charge-at-home, drive-to-work-then-home sort of person, then I would own the i4 instead.

Chances are that my next car will be an EV. Just not yet.
