My three local stores and the shelves are partial full. Eggs running at about $6.75 a dozen

The local Sam's Club had egg whites (6 small cartons in a box) and a limit of 2 per customer on them. The egg whites are what's hard to find around here.

This is what I'm sayin'. At some point they're going to have to lower the price or start tossing rotten eggs.

They firesale them here, before the egg shortage I would get lucky sometimes and buy a dozen eggs for less than a dollar. I go through eggs quickly so I never dealt with spoiling. Good times.

All the complaining around this specific item makes me wonder how often and how many eggs people eat lol...i eat eggs like twice a month at most... maybe a total of 4 eggs... if the eggs were $20, I don't think this would particularly shift my consumption.

We go through 8 - 10 eggs a day as a family when we have them for breakfast. That's probably at least five days a week.

But we're almost done with building a chicken coop/run in the backyard. Current events aside, we've been planning to do this for a couple years now - finally got to that line on the to-do list.

i know the research on this goes back and forth but strictly from a health perspective, I likely wouldn't recommend eating eggs everyday

We eat way more eggs, but I'm still of the same mindset. Of all the expenses in my life, eggs could triple and I wouldn't sweat it too much.

My understanding was the bird flu killed a lot of chickens, that meant less eggs and less chickens to eat causing prices to rise. It will take awhile to replenish the supply and then lower the prices of eggs and poultry.

Agreed, it has more of an impact on those whose food budget is tight and have already been subjected to food inflation for several years.

This sort of volatility in food (and energy) is why they publish both core and headline inflation statistics.

Since neither Publix nor Whole Foods had any, I found these online at Walmart. Lowest price I’ve ever seen for them and they were delivered.

Thanks for the idea! I just spoke to the manager of my local Walmart market, and he is going to work something out with his produce guy to allow me to buy in bulk. They carry those exact eggs, at the same price. You just saved me about $1500 this week. Nice wine is on me!

my local aldi had eggs for $5.50 the other day... that being said, i don't recall how many years its been since i bought eggs for myself and where I wasn't asked to purchase

We have a breakfast/lunch restaurant, and go through 40 cases in an average week. I doubt there is a person on this forum who cares more about the price of eggs than me.
