It’s so interesting to see the stark difference in comments between the announcement of this M3 and the E92. It is night and day difference the excitement this forum had for the E9x M3 compared to this. It’s sad those days are over. Here’s the link to when the E92 was announced https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50002

This is proof that historically new releases do not always draw hate or dislike as the forum seems to blame the critical viewpoints more recently. The majority/active forum members age groups/generational preferences may have changed now, and so has the product that is offered with the Tesla’s “appliance-ification” of cars. Gone are the old days of excitement, times are changing, a new release now builds up huge anticipation and interest and then makes some on us turn our faces away. At least the engineering at BMW seems to be somewhat steadily improving. Peace.

So they just throw heritage in the trash. This thing looks nothing like a BMW.
Let’s face it, BMW has fully transitioned from a car led by those with a passion for Motorsport to those with a passion for eccentric suits. They can try to make the tenuous connection by hiring a race car driver to promote this car, but I can’t get past the looks to see how it drives. I’m sure there are passionate engineers but corporate is chasing unicorns. Last edited by Bimmerfun82; 04-22-2025 at 08:33 PM.. |

With platforms like the Neue Klasse and tech like VDX, BMW’s M engineers now have the freedom to fine-tune everything from drivetrain behavior to suspension dynamics with insane precision and speed. We’re talking real-time adjustments that used to be impossible with ICE hardware. It’s a totally new level of performance, handling, and comfort that will keep evolving—where ICE tech is, by comparison, nearing its limit. And sure, the design direction is controversial—but we saw the same backlash with the G80, the XM, and even the G90 M5. Yet BMW’s sales keep climbing year over year. The Neue Klasse is designed not just for enthusiasts, but to future-proof the brand and attract a new generation of buyers. The numbers speak for themselves: the business is healthy, the customer base is growing, and the tech is pushing boundaries. It's not the end of the M legacy, just a bold next step in its evolution. |

Again, outside of some Bangle designs, I don't remember anywhere near the vocal distaste many of the G8x models (rightfully so) have seen. |

BMW has attracted a lot of attention with their models but the F series sales to current G series sales tells a different story of the success outside of automotive journalism and enthusiast forums. The F series felt like it was coming to stale and it didn’t get the hype it maybe deserved in some cases, while the G series when it dropped it not only shook up the Automotive journalism and the forums and enthusiasts markets but damn did they make noise for better or for worse this change did increase sales and it was just the right injection BMW needed to come out of that "old dull" feeling it was starting to get. For example when it comes to Porsche yeah everyone knows what the 911 is, good car it looks the same as always same old same old, still good but exiting? Hardly and that is fine some people like old and dull and some like new and exiting for all its worth even with the giant kidneys witch i liked from the start especially on the latest i4. So i am exited actually but this car even though this concept will most likely not make it to final production i have a hard time seeing this rear end being in the final production as with the front when it comes to the lights. It simply dosn't look road legal in my eyes, nor those wheels or paint dosn't look road legal it will probably be a bit toned down. Same with the interior dosn't look all to road legal in my opinion. But i am looking forward to the Neue classe i3 touring when it arrives that would be an very interesting car for me. I am looking forward to an i3 M performance version even though one can dream of owning an i3 M touring version but the price on it will probably make the wifey file for divorce and i do like my wife and two children so i will have to settle for M lite version of the coming i3 touring :-)

The G80, XM, i3, i4, iX are objectively ugly and uninspiring. Selling a ton of them doesn’t change that fact. |

Call me an old-fashioned sour puss. After all that is what I am, but:
"What the hell is this!?" ps. Nice Ferrari Testarossa center console switch layout.
