When they "retire" a cruiser, they still go for quite a bit of $$$$. I remember helping my buddy tear apart an old Crown Vic "cop motor"

I found a 2006 Crown Vic police cruiser -- reportedly the police chief's car -- for sale with 50K miles. The car was in excellent condition. Curious I asked some LEOs about this and was told the car being the chief's car didn't carry sick/drunk perps in the back seat, didn't go crashing over curbs, was not used for a Pit maneuver, etc. Regardless the price was a bit high based on my research and I ended up not buying the car. I managed with the Turbo since I only a time or two had both parents in the car. Dad managed to get into the back seat But that Crown Vic I think would have been a cool and good car to own. |

Congrats to the officer for not falling for it and upholding the law. I'm sure she got away with a lot with that smile.

Well, Miss Congeniality is at it again being arrested today According to Athens-Clarke County online records, Stewart, 20, was arrested on Sunday, March 23, for obstruction of a law enforcement officer and loitering/prowling.
Is she hoping to be discovered? Getting some free advertisement for her up-coming OnlyFan page? Stay away guys. Too many red flags. |

I've noticed from that live TV show that most of the jurisdictions they ride with do not have cages in every car. When someone needs to be transported, the officers either have to look around the crowd for a cage car, call for one to respond, or call for the transport van if they have one.....

This is an example of the ridiculousness we deal with constantly. When parents call us to handle their 11 year old, and the 11 year old is running the show, that’s a problem.

Cop movies...
Not sure if already covered: do you have any particular favorites?
Have you seen End of Watch? If yes, thoughts? |

EOW is a good movie. It depicts some of the realities and the dangers of this job. It also highlights the, “This call, however innocent and/or routine it seems, could be the one that ends my life.” mentality we have when we’re out here. |

I don’t know that I have a favorite, but I will say you learn a lot about human behavior - both from a humanitarian and penchant for violence perspective- and you learn a lot about yourself. This job will either reinforce what you know about yourself or shatter the idea(s) you used to define yourself. What I mean by that is, you’ll find out very quickly your level of courage or cowardice, selflessness or selfishness, etc.

There aren’t that many cop movies that I find realistic, but the shows Chicago PD and Southland are really solid depictions of day to day police work.

Took a road trip from Phoenix are to St George in Utah last weekend. Yeah I am getting old(er) but shazaam the speed you have to drive on some of those roads to go with the flow is fast. Car didn't mind but at times I was happy to find a lane with slower trucks to follow for a bit just to ease back the concentration a bit.
Think I might have hit triple digits a few times and wasn't passing anyone. YIKES. |

I "blame" that on the quietness, effortless speed and stability of (most) modern cars.
I was cured of ever owning a convertible after driving a Chrysler Sebring and my son's 87 Mustang GT convertibles. Cowl shake was unbearable on both and the Mustang was unstable above 75ish. |
