I think we must have been talking warranty service as the Lucid would be under a comprehensive warranty in almost any case given the age of the brand. We are also talking about service that needed an actual service center to do the service. There isn't much annual service that needs done, windshield wipers, cabin filter, etc. Those are not items that can't wait to schedule a mobile tech to do. I don't think we were really considering "basic service". Heck, the brakes looked brand new when I got rid of the Lucid due to regenerative braking. Brakes tend to last a lot longer on an EV.
"Basic Service" is really a different animal between an ICE and an EV, after owning both. |

Lucid site notes about 30 "service" centers across the country including Charlotte. That is crazy that they would list a mobile tech in Charlotte as a service center. That makes me question how many real service centers Lucid actually has then.

Not sure what you looked at, but it was very easy to see that it was a mobile tech designated site. Looked under locations, clicked on the location I was interested in and it either says "Service" or "Mobile Service Hub". These mobile techs can do quite a bit, short of replacing a motor or battery. Looks like they have around 36 sites, some are a service hub only (maybe 10 or so) and some actually have both, dedicated service as well as mobile service. There are quite a few more sites now than there were when I had the car so they are definitely growing to meet need/numbers.
Again, due diligence. It wasn't too hard. Last edited by CLTMDA; 03-19-2025 at 04:07 PM.. |

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

I may set up a test drive for next week when I'm up in N. Virginia.

I always described it as getting into an e-ticket Disney ride every time I drove it. Yes, I am dating myself. It was very fun to drive even in "Smooth" mode. Select "Sprint" mode, tap the warning icon to verify and hold on.
It was also the most comfortable car I have ever owned (BMW, MB, Porsche, Infiniti, Volvo, Ford, Lincoln, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Mini) The car in the video also has 19" rims, not the 21" rims I had. Honestly, the 21" rims always gave me a bit of a worry with potholes and the weight of the car. I would get the same color again (same as above), but I would get the stealth package with the 19" rims. Last edited by CLTMDA; 03-31-2025 at 08:50 AM.. |
