Driver was killed, his wife in the passenger seat was seriously injured. There's an article on The Daily Telegraph but it's behind a paywall:
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukn...into-tree.html I believe the text of the article can be found on Pelican Parts discussion forum: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-t...ked-930-a.html Not extremely rare or particularly cool, except to me; I got my targa back, with it's nifty new 4.0 liter hot rod motor! |

2... I thought Targa 911s had a removable roof section. ( Excuse my lack of PCar knowledge.) ![]() |

2... Older targas had a cloth or metal removable panel. Starting with the 993 they went with a sliding glass panel; basically the entire roof slides back at the touch of a button. Having a glass roof is pretty cool during lightning storms! At some point afterwards, 991 I think, they went back to a panel, that now is hidden via a complex mechanical contraption that lifts up the back window, stows the roof panel underneath, then puts the back window in place again. The engine compartment is entirely covered now, nothing but a few caps in which to pour fluids. I happen to like my sliding roof. Added benefit is that the back window is actually hinged and opens! Only the 996 and 997 do that, and only the 996 is a proper RWD Porsche. |

There were some Targa model years in the 90's that had a very large sliding sunroof.

That's a 993, the last of the air-cooled 911s. My car has the same kind of roof, plus the rear glass window is a hatch that opens. The 997 has the hinged window too. Interesting tidbit: the targas of this era were actually cabriolets! Instead of a convertible top, they got a steel frame with a targa system inside it.

Yes, from 1965-1995 the Targa had a foldable roof that could be stored in the frunk.

1934 GMC T-23B truck with sleeper cab and GMC-built livestock trailer. The sleeper cab is rare; it is wider than the forward cab, so angles out for increased width.

I saw this at a local car show last month, presented as 1 of 6 original. I guess there were body kits sold as well for those that wanted to turn their Mustang IIs into this. This one said it was original 1 of 6. Seemed pretty authentic to me

Well I'm no Mustang expert but I'm pretty sure these were not made by a Mustang...how do I know? Because they don't screech off into the ditch!
