I went to a Thai restaurant once with a friend who liked serious spice. When they asked us how spicy we wanted our meals, I went with my usual "not at all." He told them to make him cry. They did. As he was eating his lunch, his face was bright red and he had tears rolling down his cheeks. But he kept saying how great the food was. I just don't get how something that causes such a reaction can be enjoyable. I don't mind a little bit of spice, but serious heat ruins a meal for me.

So, I was at Epcot Center about 30 years ago with my former boss, and we stopped to get lunch at ComminiCore West. We both ordered nacho chips with cheese, and I ordered a 32 ounce large soda.

My boss was munching them down, saying that it was great that someone made real nachos and not taco chips.

I ate one...and proceeded to down that entire 32 ounce soda in one shot trying to put the fire out! After sucking on ice cubes for another 5 minutes, I did something stupid and tried a second chip. I think that I tackled some kid running to the water fountain to refill my empty soda cup, and promptly threw the rest of those nachos into the garbage hoping that they wouldn't go China Syndrome and burn a hole through the Earth's mantle and into the core.....

So my home made pizza "science project". Barbecue sauce for the base, leftover pulled pork, sliced up chicken tenders, onion rings.

Lessons learned.
1. Don't make it again.
2. If I do, skip the barbecue sauce, and use tomato paste spiced up with tobasco sauce.
