We’ll never see v10 or v8 looking ahead. Internal combusion is dying. I thought I heard that F1 in the next generation is going actual hybrid, like 50/50 EV and ICE for the power plant in 2030 or so and then continuing to move further in the EV direction 60/40 70/30 over following generations. Although they didnt’ plan to eliminate the ICE power anytime in the future, but we’re not going to see ICE grow, only drop.
They are also moving more and more to sustainable fuels and those tend to have less power so you have to off-set that with EV power in order to keep the cars performing at F1 levels. I watch too many tech videos on F1, I can never remember where/when I learned something.. but it wasn’t a BS fan article, it was direct from F1 or maybe Drive61 |

There’s already a Formula E. I know it’s a pipe dream but I would love nothing more than for F1 to bring back the V10s and shave some weight. The twitchiness of the cars before all of this aero witchcraft was awesome to watch. I’m both shocked and appalled when I see a current car next to the F2004. Plus no one with functioning ears can deny the sounds and vibrations hugely adds to the theater of it all, which at the end of the day is suppose to entertain us spectators.

![]() Otherwise designers are going to exploit every possibility they have within the ruleset they get to maximise aero performance, because it makes such a difference. I know what you're trying to say, but having the different teams competing on every technical possibility they get is one of the strong points of F1. You can tighten up the rules, but still within those rules, the aero engineers will still try to maximize the aero performance.

I’m right there with you, racing just isn’t the same without gasoline. no matter how much I think EV technology is impressive, the e races are just not entertaining to me, they are missing too many wow factors. I don’t fully know why but pretty sure it’s primarily the lack of engine power and noise.
Would be great if they could spin up a classic series or cup where each season they race prior years specs, start by going back 75 years and build cars with those specs with say some allowances to make performance adjustments and applying today’s knowledge to improvement plus add some modern safety so they are not so dangerous. I’d watch that all day long |

I'm looking forward to this weekend's race. In the current conversation, would I watch an all-electric F1?
I don't know. It's about sensationalism, excess, drama, and flair. Being conservative, polite, correct, and efficient... is a different brand than F1. ![]() We'll see if I adapt and change with the times. |

I agree. The straight line speed was down versus the Ferrari. Had to have more drag or less power from the PU.
