Loved Hadjar’s race….how long until he’s in the big brother team? Not too soon I hope, but the old Yuki temperament seems to be resurfacing and this was a disaster for him.

Man, poor Fernando. That radio message was pure fire.

Today's F1 cars look far too big IMO for the Monaco circuit. I suppose they could widen the roads in Monaco? Nah, they'll never do that. Unless of course F1 cars keep growing and growing and growing - which they are... Pretty soon only one car will be able to make it through most of the corners and the Monaco race will become a parade. The F2 race start massive first corner pile up is a clue that bigger and longer cars is not always better especially with a circuit surrounded by armco barriers and practically no run-off room whatsoever.

This season, the rush to Turn 1 seems to have become a recurrent theme.
This race weekend: several drivers had 'moments' at Turn 1 (Sainte Devote) during FP (entering the survival/escape alley or worse).
The past: claiming multiple casualties (including Max Verstappen): here.
Jos Verstappen DNF during the notorious 1996 GP (only 3 out of 21 made it to the chequered flag): see here.
Let's wait and see if Sainte Devote claims new casualties during the GP.

And so Sainte Devote claimed fresh casualties...

Video footage: HERE.

Norris locked up upon approaching Sainte Devote. Leclerc kept it clean, otherwise it would have been a similar pile-up as in F2.

Maybe Russell inspires FIA for 2026: 2 mandatory pit stops + 2 mandatory drive-through ?
The root cause: the current generation F1 cars don't belong there anymore. At a later age, our teenager clothes don't fit anymore for our progressively inflated bodies.

When Alonso encountered engine trouble I hoped that he would park on track and trigger a red flag. Would have changed the dynamics of this 78 laps IKEA parking lot queuing.

Keep in mind that, unlike Monaco, Spa-Francorchamps was dropped from the F1 schedule in 2028 and 2030.

Verstappen post-race:

"You can't race here anyway, so it doesn't matter what you do, one stop or 10 stops. Even at the end I was in the lead, but my tyres were completely gone, and you still can't pass. I think nowadays, with an F1 car, you can just pass a Formula 2 car around here. I get it, but I don't think it has worked. Honestly, we were almost doing Mario Kart! Then we'll have to install bits on the car, maybe you could throw bananas around [and create] a slippery surface."

That was an absolute snooze-fest. If they were going to require 2 pit stops, they should have mandated using all three compounds too, or require 1 pit stop by lap X. Overall, nothing exciting, but the top 3 in the WDC continue to separate themselves. I was hoping Max was going to play some games to push Lec and Nor and maybe Pia so close they'd try to make some moves and maybe cause a flag or damage to their cars with trying to pass but alas it was nothing.
Ferrari's number 2 driver got absolutely hosed again nearly a minute off the pace of his teammate, Max and the Mclarens.

Will be interesting to see what happens comes Spain...

Don't think this would work, you would still have drivers slow down to create a gap you would probably get a similar race with probably a bigger gap from the top 5.

I really don't think there's anything to fix Monaco - we just have to accept the fact that it's a weekend spectacle for those in attendance to celebrate the history of F1 and Monaco and not so much about the racing.

By my knowledge: yes.
And also multiple times quoted by the commentary.
And Horner said that was their tactic, their only real chance to win. Betting on a red flag in the later part of the race (when Max would be on the mediums).
So I assume they also checked that with the new rules.
But that red flag didn't come of course.

I have to say these drivers are pretty good nowadays, even Stroll. Anyone who can drive at race pace at Monaco and not crash is a deserved F1 driver. Though one could say due to the procession they weren't at the limit.

Of course in F1 there are no bad drivers. They have to prove themselves by getting a superlicense. So you only have good racingdrivers and great racingdrivers.
