If they can shed 200 lbs of the regular car its going to be almost a miracle and anyways its going to look good to the general public so they will just stop there.
There are quite a few weight measures between regular m235/m240i and M2. Some parts cost more but they save money off some others for sure.

I'm hoping for i3 type curb weights and materials in unibody doors and dash.
Even the legendary E46 M3 CSL is over 3k lbs At 3085lbs un modified unfueled and empty. Consider a McClarens power and weight and then power to weight ratio Gotta go on a serious diet guys... the original 1972 CSL "just" beats it out... by only a few pounds.
