Thank you...

Case in point,...I recently test drove a 2021 Taycan 4S,...a CPO 2025 model may be in sight some 2- years from now.

I remember back in 2001 when the i drive controller was released in the 7 series and it was very controversial. Now we are complaining it is going away….how things have changed. We will never be happy. With the large touch screens I honestly don’t even use the i drive controller. To each their own.

Some will leave the bmw brand and go to Porsche or who ever. All I can say is after 15 years of owning bmw and p cars including many 911’s and cayenne GTS’s I’m still team bmw. Not even going to get into the merits of why Porsche vs bmw because that’s completely subjective but everytime a camo pic comes out everyone freaks out on both sides (Porsche forum and bmw forum). The most obvious case in point is the bmw G80/82 spy shots and everyone said it was a failure and bmw can’t build them fast enough.

No clue what we’ll get in the future - not happy with Merc or Audi either - but will keep our current one for a while until we find out. Weird time for cars. Reached mid age and have the means but don’t like anything on the market.
That’s my issue. I don’t like the current BMW’s enough to pay for one. I’d rather buy something less expensive if I’m not excited by it. I do like how they drive and are engineered, so I’m on the sideline waiting for a BMW to inspire enough passion to get between me and my money again.

With the displays at the base of windshield, how are the displays not going to have a short lifetime when summertime Sun hits that area hard? They'll be hot after having parked outdoors for a while.

It also looks like the screens are there to just block your view of the road in front, as both the dash and the hood are lower. Moving the displays somewhere else would give you better view what's in front of the car. One already can't see small children or animals.

Seems this idea would be more solid if implemented via multiple large head-up displays, vs. actual screens.

There are no screens, it is a projection so no worry about short life-span. I have not seen anything from anyone saying it blocks any views but maybe in some extreme circumstances it can.

So true...sitting on a 19 X3 (wife) and 18 GTI (me) because there is just nothing in the BMW lineup (or most German manus sans $$ Porsche) that we really want. Was really wanting a '22 M3 to celebrate their 50th, but hate the front end and they've made pretty much all BMWs even worse with the new long iPad dash touch crap inside.

It's either a newer, used X3 (pre '25) for her or just continue to putter along until they both crap out. Since we both work from home, that could be awhile. Ha.

Originally, I was not sure on the front end...but then when I bought the M4 G83. First choice was the M2 G87 as I still have the M2 Comp... but in Australia they would not sell me one with a sunroof...so happy I went the full roof off!!

Well that would help make car buying decisions easier.

Indeed.

So much for the ultimate driving machine. More like the ultimate arcade.
