What woud you do? Landlord Problem
I recently moved into a condo building after I moved closer to a new job. I started renting a unit at the beginning of the year from the developer of the building. It however is rather obvious that the building management is either incompetent or disorganized beyond recognition...
They are basically losing my payments for rent. 2 months ago I sent a rent check a week ahead of time and they lost it. They notified me 3 weeks later that it is missing and I found a 3 day notice to vacate my unit on my door. I immediately ran to their office to give them a follow up check directly to the property manager... Inadvertently it took them 11 more days to cash this second check which they blamed on new employees at the office. I found this unacceptable and asked to be able to pay rent directly online. They said this option did not exist but offered me the option to pay directly into their company 's bank account. I did this twice now but this month, I once again received a 3 day notice... this after paying directly into their bank account and having proof of a deposit slip as well as a cleared check image to their bank on my bank's website... The utter incompetence by this building is frustrating and unprofessional. What if any legal recourse do I have for their antics or what should I ask for in order to have a complete resolution to this matter? TL,dr... condo keeps losing my rent checks, also did not see that I paid money directly into their account... served 3 day notices to move out twice... completely incompetent building management company that cant keep track of accounts receivable... puts embarrassing notices on my door |

Can't you address this up with the developer?
Contact a lawyer, and maybe have the firm call the management and tell them you will be taking legal action. |

Do not think there is anything actionable, based on explanation. Threat of legal action is useless. Other guys advice on target ,move. If they are that incompetent with accounts receivable you will be in for a very bumpy ride when other issues arise during your tenancy.

It's cheaper to just move out then to go into a legal battle that you will most likely lose. Take your business elsewhere, thats the best statement you can make.

That may be good to do... obviously no actual legal action can be taken... but a call to straighten things out wouldnt hurt.

Move out. To much of a headache.
Plus, do you really want to go through the hassle of having to prove you've paid? Bank account route, is not a good option. Generally a bank cannot specify it was you who deposited, it just shows up as another deposit in a long list of history. |

Also, in response to the OP, I agree with the suggestions to move, with the caveat that you really need to track them returning your deposit. With the apparent shenanigans they are playing with money, there is no doubt that you will experience difficulties with your deposit return.

Right. As I just spoke with my property manager and she said there should be no issue... at least with my company. Go back to my original post that i edited. I would call the Broker asap.
