U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander Jonny Kim has an amazing story. Kim is a NASA astronaut, but that's not all...

As a teen he set his sights on becoming a Navy SEAL and after graduating from high school did exactly that in 2002. He deployed on a number of special warfare combat missions and was a highly-decorated SEAL operator. He then was commissioned an officer and went to Harvard Medical School, becoming a Navy physician. Finally he applied for and was accepted for astronaut training, as part of which he went through flight training, soloing in the T-6 trainer. He then went on to be a qualified Navy helicopter pilot, receiving his Naval Aviator wings in March of 2023.

All this despite a difficult childhood with a family that emigrated from South Korea and an abusive father who was shot to death in an angry confrontation with police when Kim was 18.

I wish him success in his walk on the moon or beyond sometime in the future!
