Snoring remedies?

Anyone here successful with any of the snoring remedies on today's market? I.E. breathe right strips or something? I have horrible allergies and a deviated septum from 3 broken noses, and apparently I snore so loud that I wake my GF up, haha.

Tell her to punch you in the throat when you start snoring lol.

Although I did see see type of spray that stopped snoring, no clue what it's called.

I saw a commercial where you have this mouth guard looking thing that positions your mouth in such a way where the thing that makes the snoring sound doesn't vibrate...I don't see what a deviated septum has to do with snoring though since I had a deviated septum before and I didn't snore or so I've been told.

only draw back is that since your mouth is open usually because of that, you have horrible morning breath and dry mouth.

Yeah, lol. One was from a drunken outing in the desert, one happened while I was trying to drag my drunken friend back to his room and the third occurred while sparring with my friend to help him prepare for one of his fights. The first two have pretty awesome stories, which I suppose I'll detail when I get out of class, haha.

Snoring can sometimes be a symptom of a more serious problem. Not saying you have one since you listed broken noses and allergies, but get it checked out by a physician. Don't go with a home remedy or advice from people on internet boards (except to get it checked out by a doctor )

Deviated septum can have a HUGE effect on snoring. Read up n the Bernouli (sp?) effect. A very small decrease in the round opening can create a very large increase in the force required to pass the same volume of air thru the nose, inducing snoring. Sleep apnea is a very serious health issue, it can lead directly to death.

The only thing I have found helps me sleep thru my wife's snoring is a bed in another room . . . when she did her sleep apnea test, the other subject who had the misfortune of being tested the same night had to come on an additional night because she couldn't sleep due to the rumbling from my wife's room

Best regards,
Wede

So the first broken nose happened when I was camping out at Ocotillo Wells in SoCal about 4 years ago with some buddies. We were all trashed, and at some point someone threw a plastic trash can toward me and at the same time I kicked at it as hard as I could. My foot went through the bottom of the trash can and got stuck. Because my thought process was impaired by alcohol, I decide to start running around, violently shaking my leg to get the trash can off my foot. My friends saw it as an opportune time to try and tackle me. I broke 3 tackles, but then one of my friends blindsided me and I flew in the direction of my friend marcus who was sitting in a lawn chair. My face met his elbow, and my nose made a severe left turn. That was the first time I broke my nose.

The second time, was St. Patty's day that same year, I was only 20 at the time, so I did not go out with my friends, I chilled back at the barracks. Around 3AM, someone knocks on my door, and I answer to find my friend Brandon piss drunk, eating a California Burrito from Juanbertos on Miramar Road in San Diego (Most delicious Cali burrito ever, if you haven't been, you need to go) Anyways, he just barges on in, and decides he wants to watch tv. So he sits down and turns on the ol boob tube, and turns it to MTV. Well, on MTV they had some newlywed marathon apparently, so the first thing he sees is Jessica Simpson nagging about something.

What ensued next completely baffled me, and also broke my nose. Brandon totally flips out, and starts yelling about how he hates jessica simpson and how he thinks she is a huge "bitchcunt" then he stands up and starts pacing around my room in a very angry manner. THEN out of nowhere, he takes a huge bite of his burrito, and heaves the rest of the burrito at my tv, surround setup. It explodes, and all the contents are strewn about my room. He yells, "Take a bite out of that you dumb whore!" I shut off the now guacamole green TV/surround setup.

I am in shock, and decide its time for brandon to go back to his room. So, I start to lead him out of my room, and then he just blacks out and becomes a dead weight. To give you a few stats, I was 6'0 185 at the time and he was 6'4 235. It wasn't a necessarily easy task, but I had dragged him all the way to the outside door, when all of a sudden he wakes up, and flips out again. Have you ever seen what a cat does if you try and put it into a bathtub, well he did the same thing as I tried to drag him through the door. He just sprawled all four limbs out and clung onto the door opening. I start yelling at him to quit being a belligerent fuckhead, while trying to pull him through the door and then he throws his right fist forward like he's about to fly like superman, screams "HIGH YA!" and elbows me in the face. My nose went from pointing left, back to straight, that was the second time I broke my nose. Oh and in case you're wondering, it took me and two other sizable guys to get him back to his room eventually. haha.

Damn, thats insane man. My advice is to stay away from Michael Jackson's surgeon. I'm sure you'll need one the 4th time.

She hits me, yells, pinches my nose shut...those methods all work, but they still require her to either already be awake or be woken up. lol. In fact the other day she was in our living room watching one of her reality shows and I was out cold in the bedroom and she could hear me snoring over the tv. She decided to try calling my cellphone which was right next to me, but I wouldn't wake up, haha. When I woke up for class the next morning at 530am, I saw her missed calls and wondered all day why she called me at 1am, only to find out it was a last ditch effort to wake me up haha.

I'm going to try some of these at home ones listed, but in the mean time I'll be setting up an appointment with my primary care physician so he can refer me to an ENT.

Hello friends,
It’s very important to find out the cause of your snoring before looking for a solution.Like ask someone to watch you when you’re snoring. If you snore on your back, you may be a tongue-based snorer (where the tongue falls back and impedes your airway). If you have your mouth open, you may be a mouth-based snorer – air is hitting your throat. A nasal snorer’s nostrils tend to collapse on sniffing, and breathing is difficult – but a congested nose can also cause this. There could be more than one reason for your snoring.

dang im 6'1 and 160lbs..i need to bulk up.

anyways I did a little more research and yes I guess I was wrong on the deviated septum part because there is more than one part of the nose and nasal passageway that can cause snoring but i wouldn't be surprised after 3 broken noses which would create a rather extreme deviated septum? I dunno i had a naturally occurring deviation which permanently blocked off my right nasal passageway. Just get your septum fixed and it should cure the snoring. What I would do is just sleep with an ipod if there were snoring ppl nearby

I snore in like every position haha. It's horrible. I do know that my deviated septum allows me to only breathe 30% through my left nasal passage, not sure if that has any significant effect.
