Per ynguldyn's user avatarynguldyn in the Future BMW Models Info Thread, here's the latest info on the G65 X5 and iX5 BEV:
  • G65 model release schedule for 2026
    • Intro in 8/26 with 40x and non-US 40dx, 12/26 adds US 40, all markets 50ex, M60ex, iX5 60x.
  • One more paint color that I first missed: Vancouver Green for G65.

G65/G95 X5, iX5, X5M
  • In production 8/26-07/33
  • X5 model range: X5 40, 40 xDrive, 40d xDrive, 50e xDrive, M60 xDrive, M60e xDrive
  • iX5 models: 50 xDrive, 60 xDrive, M70 xDrive
  • S68TÜ1 (4.4L twin-turbocharged V8) is confirmed for G65 X5 M60x
  • Hydrogen iX5 confirmed for production starting 2028
  • G65 X5 will push hard into high luxury.
  • Expect many top level features currently only found on 7/X7 - from automatic doors to interior details, plus all the UI advancements we've been hearing about recently: Panoramic Vision, Augmented View, AR glasses integration, passenger side screen and "Ceremonial Light Carpet."
  • There's a good chance the BEV iX5 will only be introduced in 2027.
  • New style headlights will appear on M Sport models. They will have some distinctive color elements. Will be available on G50 and G65 first.
  • G78 X5 for China production dates: 1/27-12/35

It looks overly bloated. I hope it does not loose the sporty styling.

It probably weighs 4 tons, that’s why.

Big fan of the new Noya Class front end. From the spy shots it looks like they are moving away from the IX grill and moving towards that Noya Class design language. Big Win if the whole lineup goes in the direction!

Lost the boxy greenhouse look, now longer/horizontally stretched like the X3.

But ultimately, comes down to the details - headlight design, type of grille, bumper design, etc.

They squished it like a pancake. What a travesty. I was worried about this, and now they’ve gone and ruined it. Just wait until you see the interior

License plate moving to the bumper is going to leave a huge empty space in the back, and will look strange like the new X3 if the rear end is not properly designed.

High chances they will screw up the rear again because they are getting really good at messing up the designs over and over.

The MY25 may buy you an insurance policy until BMW really solidifies where they are going.

This looks massive, lower to the ground but may just be so hard to say at this stage. Making an EV and ICE on same platform comes with similar tradeoffs as the 5er G6x

1. It'll be more luxurious, but far heavier
2. It'll be more expensive
3. The badging, at this point, has lost absolutely all meaning
4. It will ideally replace the X7 and have optional 3rd-row seating

Looks like it is not as tall as the current X5...

Also, I think I see the split rear hatch opening...that would be good thing...
