Rather removing the cord just remove the handle. That is what is being hooked from the outside. Grabbing the cord from the inside itself is enough. In my case, I was lazy and pulled the cord through so the handle is at top.

As for the robbery. I would venture a guess to say it was targeted. That is the thieves had met the owner at an event, got their name, did a name and address search, and waited for the opportunity.

As for the thieves, amateurs. They should have been in and out in under a minute.
I found it amusing the dude was sneaking around in the garage like Elmer Fudd hunting Bugs Bunny. Lol.
