Anyone with expensive bikes like that in a garage without a motion sensor and app notification is an idiot. Although I hate thieves and hope they get what's coming. And a 12 ga shotgun with 00 buck is better than a Glock G20, you don't miss. Actually, 6 shot is best for home defense because you don't miss and it won't go through multiple walls and kill an innocent person.

But I don't have expensive motorcycles in my garage and getting my car out in an emergency with no E is more important than worrying about someone breaking into my garage. I've been a victim of crime too many times, but never had anyone break into my garage. If they do maybe they'll mistake the fire ant killer for coke and end up dead.

Owner of the bikes posted up a clip that his local news channel is bringing the thefts to public attention.

I once needed to get into our garage which was 60 years old and previously updated with a new door. I pushed in the top panel and pulled the cord. Easy peasy. But afterwards the panel was slightly bent. I did not care cause we tore that garage down and built a new one.

The current door has a solid metal bar across the top of panel that is right by the upper set of wheels. It also seals tightly against the frame. A crowbar would be needed now.

Rather removing the cord just remove the handle. That is what is being hooked from the outside. Grabbing the cord from the inside itself is enough. In my case, I was lazy and pulled the cord through so the handle is at top.

As for the robbery. I would venture a guess to say it was targeted. That is the thieves had met the owner at an event, got their name, did a name and address search, and waited for the opportunity.

As for the thieves, amateurs. They should have been in and out in under a minute.

I found it amusing the dude was sneaking around in the garage like Elmer Fudd hunting Bugs Bunny. Lol.
