The solution here is that we should de-badge our cars. That way the only cars that have the badges would be fakes...

Wife wanted an ///M3 badge and not just an ///M

The only M3 that came with an ///M3 badge was the original E30, so I bought one of those. The colors didn't match the current badges so she re-did them with some carbon-look tape. I had to make a clip to attach it since it had two flat prongs that would have fit into slots on the E30. She likes it!

To clarify, This is a real E93 M3 and the badge is a real BMW part, just not on the M3 it came from...,

You should do it! And if you don't like it, just stick some 3m double tape on the badge and put it back on it. The last car I left the badges on was my 2015 Honda Fit
