Samoyeds do hate summer, but somehow they survive. They do have a few things going for them:
-The white reflects the sun.
-The coat is so thick they have their own micro-climate in there. They can carry a lot of air conditioner temp with them when out on a walk.
-They have very large veins in their legs to pump blood to keep the feet from freezing in the winter. In the summer when they stand in cold water, the reverse happens, cooling the body.

But they hate the summer.

Today is one of the worst days ever, my budgie Pietry had closed his eyes forever after 15 years and 7 months. That is a very long period for such a small tiny animal, but we had enjoyed every day and it breaks just my heart to stand in front of his empty cage with the knowing that he never would be heard again.
I have to take a break and pause a few days.

It's a "she". That's Bella. Running on the beach is her favorite thing in the world. She doesn't have a lot of time left (she's 15 1/2) so we made a pledge to get her to the beach as many times as we can this summer and for as many summers as she has left.

More than you know. Winston has a history. He shit in the car once when it was just he and I driving to Asheville. In the passenger seat on a seat cover sitting next to me. We were in rural SC. (Fortunately in my wife’s SUV not my car, which was the only good news for me.). It was a very bad day for both of us. I think he ate some acorns or something else bad before we left. We made about 6 more stops the rest of the way and I was driving that Q5 about 100 mph most of the way from that point forward.

We now travel with a dog emergency kit that includes a backup seat cover, towels, a portable bath thing I hope we never use, water for the bath and dog shampoo. I think we have some vinyl gloves and baby wipes in there too. Knock on wood haven’t needed it but I can’t travel without it if they are coming along.
