It’s insane. Our fuel surcharge for CA, central Atlantic and New England were all close to $0.90 per mile last week. 3 years ago, the freight charges to go from NJ to IL were $0.90 per mile. The fuel surcharge was about $0.25 per mile.

I went through $430. in my pickup truck this week. I use to average about $270- $300. That takes a big bite out of the play money.

If it helps any with your planning, diesel has dropped $0.20/gallon up here in the past week...down to $6.39. I just stuffed $110 into the Mighty Dodge for tomorrow's trip, which should make it to North Carolina where diesel is around $5.79/gallon at all of the usual truck stop chains.....
