But how is Merc and Ferrari ahead of RB with basically no real upgrades? Everything has been very minor since before the break.

FP1 has RB on top.

McLaren , Mercedes and Ferrari got lots of upgrades and they have made the cars faster .
If it is legal or illegal , McLaren and Mercedes run with flexible front wings (!)
The Red Bull RB20 got upgrades as well , but they had to remove all the upgrades because it made the car slower and undriveable (!)
With the new RB20 upgrades ,MAX and Checo got under and oversteer at the same moment .
The RB20 really s@cks , the balance of the car is like a roller coaster by a big fundamental design flaw ..
Just see Checo's $4.5Million crash hole in the Red Bull buget cap (!)
That's why all the RB20 upgrades have been removed from the car ..

Hopefully , but It's really strange . As the RB20 new upgrades with the old rebuilt floor and old chassis are planned for @COTA.
