Fellow Floridians

Long time no post....I know there used to be a ton of Floridian neighbors on the page.
Looking for hot spots in Naples mostly or if its worth a day trip to Marco Island.

The wifes 50th is coming up and Naples is where she wanted to go. We have been before but I'm looking for people in the know to unleash the hidden secrets.
Fine dining
Excellent shopping
Etc Etc

Thanks in advance, and miss ya all....work Post COVID has required so much more admin time that I rarely get on the page anymore

Hello stranger! I don’t have anything to add but wanted to say hi. I haven’t been on here in months myself. Sounds like you’ve been very busy! Hope you find some good options for the wife’s birthday!

Hellooooooo there!!!!
Ever since everyone moved to Florida for freedom after the pandemic the work has just been insane! People were horrible enough drivers but now add people from all over the country who moved here and the roads are a death trap.
Can't complain, busy work lines the pockets.

Thank you for the well wishes and hope all is well with you and the family.

Florida guy living in Georgia here. One of my really good friends I used to work with is in Naples, I can ask him. When you say 'hot spot', what exactly are you looking for?

Hey, how have you been?
I guess Hot Spot to me would be a place that might be trendy for shopping like 5th Avenue. 5th Ave is really all I know in Naples. I have heard about an area called Mercato with shops and dining but never been.
Somewhere that you might not just stumble across being a tourist. Shopping, restaurant, bar, scenic location....just trying to see a little more of the area than our resort and 5th Ave

Oh yeah, my cousin was telling me this weekend about the endless traffic and accidents. We were just in Treasure Island/Sarasota this past weekend. The traffic wasn’t too terrible but every time I go I see more and more being built and always tons of additional road work.

All is good here. Just rocking and rolling along.

I vacationed in Naples a few years ago. Most anywhere downtown is nice with many restaurants. Bring a fat wallet. Drove through Marco Island but didn’t eat there. Almost all the beach front property in Marco is hotels or private.

We were there in September before the winter rush so the traffic wasn’t too bad. Thanksgiving through Valentine’s Day are the busiest with way too many people.

I was in Naples in the summer 35 years ago and there weren’t all that many people there then. But it was a bit hot at that time of year.

Been good. Do you still run into my old friend Dave from Travelers?

I'll ask my buddy down in Naples and report back.

I heard restaurants used to open for a season and then go out of business b/c the off season was so quiet. We only live 2 hours away and have been before but I'm thinking there has to be more there that we have found.

That IS the main place to be in Marco. Prices are insane, $750 a night is the norm

Just saw Dave last week. He rolls through about every week or two. Love that guy! Had a great "life" talk with him about a month ago regarding our industry and the local scene.

Awesome. Super cool cat, I keep in touch with him regularly. I keep missing him every time I'm down there though.

Buddy in Naples says an area called Mercato is good for restaurants and nightlife. I've never been but he's lived there for many years so I trust his judgement.

Have fun with whatever you decide to do
