Its hand built. And on top of that: they know a handful of wealthy people will pay about anything to get their hands on one. As it is basically a 8 series, crash testing may not even be necessary.

If I remember correctly only 50 are slated for production, and they're all spoken for.

Why are they spending the time and money on chassis that is already proven? You spend the money on this but wont build a true sports car that show cases BMW Ms ability.

...Good Luck BMW! I mean, why not,...you're already @ $130k to $150k for an M5,...nearly $100k for an M3! So, may as well reach for $500k.

It looks like it has an actual dashboard with an instrument binnacle and physical controls. I guess folks who are willing to spend a half million dollars want something physical to touch and not a bunch of crap on a screen where you have to get your finger in just the right spot as you are moving down the less-than-smooth-as-glass road at 80+ mph.
