What egg shortage?

Poor chickens, made to churn out eggs then when finished end up on a serving plate.

We don't eat our laid-out chickens, too tough after a few years.

There are certain members of the neighborhood who prefer the older ones, and will buy them from us. If only I could be certain of which ones were no longer laying . . .
