I know Max is not happy about this race. But he’s keeping himself so close and competitive in the WDC standings. And if they can make small, progressive improvements as the season goes on, I don’t doubt Max’s ability to do what’s needed to win.

And in the post race interview Lando is still complaining about people saying the McLaren is the fastest car....
Lando is still way to much influenced about what people think of him. He wants to be felt special, not the car.
That is not the mentality of a winner. A winner doesn't care, winning is the main goal. How you do it is just details.

Piastri was going very (too)! wide in T1 . And took MAX with him ...

Entering T1 , MAX was still P1 . Too bad for MAX ,but there was no other way for him on the outside.
MAX avoided a collision and got a 5 sec. penalty (!)

Once those penalty points are off Max is going to teach Pia a lesson and Pia will never try that again. I thought Pia definitely went a bit far in his tactic to push Max off as he didnt leave even half a car's width. Even so, if not for that penalty, Pia in a MUCH faster car wouldnt have won. Crazy that your car can be that fast but a single driver can make up that difference. Just imagine how fast the Mclaren would be if Max was driving it.
It does seem like RB are on the right trajectory in terms of pace and tire wear. If they can copy the design of the Mclaren wheels and the impact of the flexi clamp down (RB was absolutely the best before flexi cheat wings) should turn this WDC on its head. Max winning 5 or 6 in a row with some Mclaren swapping results and DNFs from Mclaren will make an impact.

It’s going to be interesting to see how McLaren will continue to not have a number one and if it will bite them again this year as Norris and piastri chip away into each others points.

The stewards were Enrique Bernoldi (Brazil), Nish Shetty (India), Loic Bacquelaine (Belgium) and Hasan Alabdali (?) .

I haven't seen the infringement, so I don't know if it's exactly the same or that there were some more 'circumstances' validating a more severe penalty.

TBH, if Max gave the place right back after the incident, I don't think that would've mattered, unless he would've been able to overtake PIA immediately after the SC.
PIA would've then had lots of clean air on the first tyre stint, and I think he would be able to drive away from Max on meds enough that an undercut from Max wouldn't be sufficient anymore.
But that's just a prediction, circumstances then would be different...no one can say for sure. The difference at the end is not really a point of measurement here, both drivers at some point coast a bit to save tyres during the race to plan their attack. That difference is more than those few seconds difference at the end.

Yeah . 2 from MAX's penalty points will expire : June 30.
That will be after race 11 at the Austria GP (Spielberg) : June 29.

Norris will bounce back from his 'downer', this is a dangerous track and he wasn't at all happy here.

That was a pretty decent race. For the first time, we saw Max make a genuine mistake and Piastri was absolutely on point with a flawless drive to keep him from winning.
