911s are usually best managed via momentum, keep the engine loaded. Probably still true with the Metzger cars.

Probably removed the spare or didn't have the washer bottle appropriately filled and thew off the F/R balance on his precision machine.

My guess is cold, near race spec tires on the street were the main culprit as to why this 911 lost total control. I'm not saying the driver is not to blame though. Most people that own cars like this don't know squat about cars, how to drive them, tire temps, etc.

A good observation. I bet the tarmac has a lot of glass in the asphalt mix.

I read somewhere the aero on that model 911 does take affect until speeds above 32.5 MPH.

Correction... 32.592 MPH.

Should this thread be moved to...

To the thread, "What demographic is the 911 aiming at these days?"

Came here to make a similar comment. I do think people like this (driver from the article) are part of the current target audience. Not specifically people that will crash but moreso people w/ money and have no clue about anything other than marque.

I don't think foot on brake would have saved him from the first curve. Maybe afterwards the tree, depending on how much damage was already done.
What was that second shift? 70 plus mph? I think he just over cooked the entry in that set of turns. Not sure anyone could have saved it at that point. Not enough road to clean it up, then the curbs upset the car all together. Professional race car drivers can over cook a corner and get out of sorts quick. Another reason to not play games on the street.

Lol you're really not wrong. . . His second shift was definitely up there. But still the trouble arises when you don't have power going to the back, so I still think he/they failed by trying to stop when they needed to just keep on the go.

The single craziest slalom of my life was after I'd been out doing snow donuts at a high school parking lot nearby withe some friends. S4 6mt with winters - was fully in control in the lot. . . Had my fun, left, drove home safely and well under the speed limit, almost no one on the road. . . When I went to turn into my street ~~15m later, a quick tap on the brakes and my ass started to kick out right away. The extra snow in the tires probably didn't help, but overall the conditions had continued to get worse and it kept snowing. It's also a slight downhill towards where I had to turn. . . ABS was wayyyy overcorrecting for me despite the fact I'd downshifted.

Thankfully my traction control was already off, and with the manual I was in the right gear to put more power down as things started to get sketchy.

I ended up correcting left to right like 6 different times, with my trunk probably sliding RIGHT under side mirrors on both sides of the road. If at any moment, for 1 second, I let off the gas, I would have wrecked like 7 or 8 cars and I wasn't traveling more than 25mph or 30mph in a straight line down the road. Thankfully the conditions were bad enough there was no one else on the other side, as I was flat out sliding in the worst possible way on either side.

I don't think there would have been a hope in hell without winters + all wheel drive + manual in that particular instance. . . But the moral of the story is that the number one most important thing in a situation where your ass is going in a different direction than your eyes is to keep the power down.

Just proves what I said in the other thread. 3RS's are the poseur spec to have now. Show all your bros that you have money, but can't drive worth a damn. As others have pointed out, boy lifted and got scared. If he kept any amount of maintenance throttle with some hands he could of pointed it in the right direction.. IDK how people do it.

One of the first things I do when I get a car, or change the suspension/alignment/tire class of a car is go to a huge parking lot and try to disturb the car to see what it will do, so I will know how it handles... Learning this in an area with trees and curbs is asking to pay for more than just tires.

there's one reason why supercars are expensive. most of them are destroyed leaving the remaining ones going up in price.
