I think PIA disappointed the most. He scuffed the wall multiple times on various laps and was often sloppy accelerating from slow corners going sideways.
And LEC showed again why he's mr. qualifying, even though he didn't get pole. But was still very close to Lando.

Max is 3 in the WDC (one of only two multiple race winners) in a much slower car while your guy with a faster car is sitting in 6th. LMFAO The RB is maybe capable of 10th (and likely worse) in the WDC without Max in it. If Ham were driving the RB21 he'd like be 12-15th and we all know Max in the Mclaren would win every race whereas Ham would also struggle in that car because he SUUUUUUUCKKKKKKKSSSSSSSS. LOL He is struggling to find the talent needed to drive his car while also getting body slammed by his teammate. Sucks to suck like Ham does. But when you're that bad he should just own it. He wouldnt even sniff past Q1 in quali in the RB, but he is good as sniffing other things like his teammates dust.

They don't want drivers to think and decide for themselves, if anything regulatory happens their first thing has to be: follow the rules.
And in F1...all drivers are considered the best of the best in the world. So 100% knowledge of the rules and 100% understanding what the Stewards want to see should be considered 2nd nature if you want to be in that club of the best of the best. So that is an argument for that in F1 there's no room or need for compassion.

Ignoring a red flag is worse than ignoring double yellows or yellows. Drivers are reminded of this during briefings. They heard it since their karting days. And Monaco is likely the most red flag prone circuit. Drivers perfectly know the meaning of a red flag - it serves to protect their safety too. Very dangerous track situation. Ignoring a red flag is an absolute no-no. Hence, zero tolerance for reckless behavior.

i predict P11 - P20 pits on lap 1 but will wait for SC before pitting again, though i can't rule out a fast car from P11-20 pitting twice because they don't want to be stuck behind a slower car. eg Kimi or George.

Wouldn't be a surprise if Mercedes goes for the radical strategy of pitting Kimi and Russell during laps 2 and 3. Nothing to lose. The hard tires will be slower and they will be out on track again closely ahead of the race leader, breathing into their necks, triggering blue flags discussions.

Who ever has P1 after first turn just needs to create one long drs train. Ride around 5+sec under pace. Make sure there is not any gaps to undercut for drivers in top 10.

i've never seen a crash by the top starters in Monaco in the 30 years i've been watching. it's a very short run to T1, a big wall on the left, but you could in theory cut the corner but that should be a slam dunk.

this year seems to be a different year in T1 incidents but i have a feeling the run is too short to do anything, unless Lando has a bad start. P1 start box is also miles ahead of P2 and P3 in addition to the short run.so unlikely.

will be interesting though as you said.

This season, the rush to Turn 1 seems to have become a recurrent theme.

This race weekend: several drivers had 'moments' at Turn 1 (Sainte Devote) during FP (entering the survival/escape alley or worse).

The past: claiming multiple casualties (including Max Verstappen): here.

During FP, Verstappen struggled to find grip with Pirelli's new C6 tires (super softs). He vented about it.

He used the C6 during Q3.

Choice for Verstappen with his RB21: faster but less grip (C6) or a tad slower but better grip (C5).

Quite likely, Verstappen will drive most GP laps with mediums (C5) and hards (C4).

Work for Hannah Schmitz to devise a tire and pit stop strategy, limiting use of C6 for Verstappen.

Odd they call Lec Mr Quali but Max in a slower car has more poles than him and is generally a better qualifier in a car that is not set up for quali. To me Lec is good, but Max is still just a step better.

RB didnt use their Medium tires during quali as far as I recall and this was a very fast tire for Max as he was faster than everyone during Q3 on the Med vs them ont he Soft. Maybe that tire plays into the race well...then again not sure what else everyone has but the Med could be pivotal.
