My grandfather had an old GMC 1 ton truck with the starter pedal. When he wanted his dog to come home he would go out to the truck and hit the starter to crank the engine over, no ignition on. That dog would be there in seconds, running as hard as he could because he thought he would miss a ride in the truck. It never failed.

I aced the zero-G astronaut training!

Interesting story about that. I had a co-worker who went rubber-room insane one day out of the blue, and it was a shock to everyone. They didn't take away his smart phone in the rubber room for a month or so, and would e-mail our entire department every day to say that he was going to be out sick again along with some colorful excuses that frequently involved me for some reason. For example, he was tired one morning because he was up all night looking for his missing car and thanking me for driving him all over town searching for it.

He didn't realize that he was in the loony bin, and one of his morning ramblings was that he and I were in astronaut training to fly on the space shuttle. He congratulated me for acing the zero-G training and being slated to fly on the next shuttle launch. (The shuttle program had already ended.) He failed the zero-G training and barfed all over the simulator, which is why they were holding him at the "astronaut hospital" for another day and he couldn't come to work.

My DW jokes that I could be on the space station right now whenever I watch a rocket launch stream since I passed the zero-G training, but it really is sad because the guy's wife also worked at my former employer and their kid was dropped off at our office from school every day.....

My peripheral depth perception is going.

A few weeks ago I scraped the passenger side of my truck on the side of he carport.

Last night, I swear I had just looked at that rear quarter of my wife's Highlander, but guess what got dragged along the side of the house.

I apparently traumatized the dog who was riding shotgun when I screamed. I'm not sure if it was the scream, or the actual grating noise on the house, that brought my wife from the kitchen.
