In all my dash cams installs (Garmin, Viofo and BlackVue), I always route the wire through the rear view mirror shroud and then the headliner, so only at most 1-2" of wire is seen from dashcam to rear view mirror clamshell.

Obviously OP has no need to do that since he is moving it between cars.

Got it, yeah you could try harder to hide, but I put them in and out of vehicles often

For a long time I was anti-dash cam. I always reasoned I don't want any record of my driving or speeds, something that can be used against me.

That changed when I got side swiped by elderly couple who admitted fault on the side of the road and then reported to their insurance I was at fault. Without a dash cam, insurance told me it was 50/50 responsibility.

Now all my cars have dash cams. Best case scenario you never have to use it.
