There is no one greatest driver of all time, there are great drivers past and present and going forward Super MAX is standing on the GOPT stone.

So true. Over the years we've seen some great ones come and go. Senna and Schumacher come to mind, and now Max. Perhaps his best is yet to come? My feeling is he's only now just hitting his stride. IF Charlie could tidy some things up a little we might see some memorable leader challenges this season. PS: And LEW needs to stay of the curbs if his planks are gonna' last...

There's no need to think about MAX ...

Even if you don't want to see MAX, you always will see MAX fighting in the front in every race. Even in his Frankenstein car ..
And after the race , you will see MAX again . This time on the podiums (!)
I'm pretty sure , we can't say that from LEW .
And ...

MAX is always in front of your LEW .
I feel sorry for all the LEW fans . And I can feel your terrible pain . Ough (!)
And if this Isn't enough : Charlie will take LEW down at Ferrari. Completely down .

They all know deep down, whether they want to admit it or not, Ham is nothing but a midfield level at best talent. Take away the world beater car and he's got nothing. Now he has arguably the fastest car in F1 and placing 7th...barely ahead of rookie Had in a much slower car and still behind Ant in a slower MB. The problem was that Ham has never face much competition in his career. Mclaren sabotaged Alo's car and Ham still couldnt beat him, and they gave Bot an inferior car and team orders for years. Who needs team orders to beat Bot in a car that was deliberately made slower by MB? Ham! LOL
Today, we have the greatest motorsport driver in history in Max, and world class talent in Nor, Pia, Lec, Sai, Alb, and a rookie class with massive talent. Ham has never had to drive in F1 with talent like Max for one, and the others. It's also why he wont ever touch a series where there is balance of power because if he raced against the likes of top talent in Indycar and IMSA he'd fall way, way, way down the order. More so than he has since 2022.

Slow start, but so did the greatest QB of all time when he switched to a new team.

Tom Brady went to a record 9 super bowls with the Patriots, and won 6 of them. his last season in New England was mediocre by his standards and there was talk about how "washed" he was, how he was too old.

Switching to the Tampa Bay Bucs, Brady had a rock start getting acclimated, but it eventually became HIS TEAM, and he went on hot streak all the way to a blowout win in the Super Bowl.

Lewis Hamilton is Formula 1's Tom Brady - including donning the new colors (red!)

It's no secret that Herbert and Alonso dislike/despise each other.

Look here AmuroRay, Herbert couldn't resist to spin an alternative narrative about Alonso's genuine praise for Verstappen's performance.

"Fernando Alonso support for Max Verstappen pinned on 'lingering bitterness' for Lewis Hamilton
Max Verstappen received words of praise from Fernando Alonso last weekend at the Japanese Grand Prix.

RN365 - April 9, 2025
Former F1 driver Johnny Herbert has suggested Fernando Alonso's praise for Max Verstappen stems from “lingering bitterness” towards Lewis Hamilton.
Alonso and Hamilton spent the 2007 season as team-mates at McLaren with Alonso joining the team off the back of two consecutive titles while Hamilton stepped up to F1 following championship success in GP2.
However, the season was filled with tense moments between the pair, leaving Alonso to exit the team at the end of the campaign.
Hamilton endured various other rivalries during his career, including with Verstappen as they fiercely battled for the F1 title in 2021, colliding on several occasions.
Alonso sent praise Verstappen's way following his pole position effort at Suzuka last weekend, stating the Red Bull driver is the “reference for all of us”.
Alonso has been complimentary of Verstappen throughout his success-filled years, which Herbert believes is a result of the two enduring a rivalry with Hamilton during their careers.

“I understand why Fernando Alonso is very supportive of Max Verstappen,” Herbert told PokerFirma.
“Max and Fernando haven't been teammates. Lewis and Fernando have been teammates.
“It was a two-time world champion in Alonso who was full of confidence at the top of his game at McLaren in 2007. He expected Hamilton as the young whippersnapper, to be easily beatable.
“And it didn't happen that way. So then that fight happened that season harmed the relationship at the end of the day from that point on. Purely because Lewis came in with a mighty bang and Alonso didn't have it all his own way.
“And he's probably still got a lingering bitterness because of what happened at McLaren.”
Herbert, who has 160 grand prix starts to his name, admitted he understands why Alonso might feel that way almost 20 years later.
“I get that as a driver,” he added.
“You do get frustrated when you fully believe that you can do the job, and he probably felt he wasn't supported as much as he felt he should have been by Ron Dennis.

“So anyway, respect to Max. He's the guy that's delivering even when he went into a weekend saying, ‘I've got no chance.’”

Looks like your GOAT has been beaten (annihilated?) on track dozens of times since 2021 by the young chap. So, at best, your GOAT can only be "greatest (F1 driver) of some time" instead of "greatest (F1 driver) of all time", no ?

All pretty pointless, those "my boy is the GOAT" discussions. Be happy that, also this season, we can still see, for lack of a better word, "battles" between the young chap and the old Ferrari driver.

best way to measure a drivers performance is by comparing him to his teammate.
Hammy got beaten by RUS 2 out of 3 years in the same car.
Lets see how it goes this year at Ferrari against LEC

Max only got beaten by RIC when he was still very young (18-19 years old) and still had a lot to learn, and RIC was in his prime and actually good.
Of course after that (after 2017) Max obliterated everyone next to him.

That would be 2023
with 290 points difference, so that's more than double checo's points. You'd have to go back a really long time to see such a difference between #1 and #2, if that even ever happened.
And compare qualification times, how much faster Max was on average.

Yes that is what I call obliterated.
That Checo was 2nd and thus best of the rest says nothing about how much Max was above the rest.

Ham OBLITERATED Rus in 2023, and suddenly was "washed" 4 months later.

Team mates normally get the same cars. But different setups according to their preference. I guess Mercedes sometimes gave Hamilton a different car (test car) in 2022 and 2023 to improve the car based on his superior skills and vast experience. Mercedes was struggling with the zero pods design and porpoising.

Honda trivia: Prost told in a 2021 interview that during his time as team mate of Senna he had noticed someday that a new set of Honda engines flown in from Japan featured a "Special For Ayrton" notice (from 18:45 onwards here). It startled him. Honda was fond of Senna.

Here are the 2023 WDC results of VER, PER, HAM and RUS:

Not good to have issues after just three races. I hope Charles can get more out of the Ferrari with his setup direction.
